Job Summary
The Mechanical Product Engineer is responsible for the design, development, validation, and sustaining of mechanical aspects of high-technology electronic products from concept through mass production. This role works cross-functionally with electrical, manufacturing, quality, and supply chain teams to ensure products meet performance, reliability, cost, and manufacturability requirements in a high-volume manufacturing environment.

Key Responsibilities
Product Design & Development
  • Design and develop mechanical components and assemblies for electronic products (enclosures, chassis, thermal solutions, brackets, connectors, etc.).
  • Create 3D models, detailed drawings, and specifications using CAD tools.
  • Perform tolerance analysis, material selection, and mechanical simulations (thermal, structural, vibration).
Manufacturing & Industrialization
  • Support NPI (New Product Introduction) from prototype through ramp to mass production.
  • Collaborate with manufacturing engineering to ensure DFM, DFA, and DFx compliance.
  • Support tooling design (injection molds, die casting, sheet metal, CNC) and review supplier tooling proposals.
  • Resolve manufacturing issues, yield losses, and mechanical defects during pilot and production runs.
Testing & Validation
  • Define and execute mechanical validation plans (shock, vibration, thermal cycling, reliability).
  • Analyze test results and implement corrective actions.
  • Support compliance with industry standards and regulatory requirements.
Supplier & Cross-Functional Collaboration
  • Work with global suppliers and contract manufacturers to develop and qualify mechanical parts.
  • Lead technical discussions with vendors on materials, processes, and cost optimization.
  • Interface with electrical, thermal, quality, supply chain, and program management teams.
Sustaining Engineering
  • Drive cost reduction, quality improvement, and product lifecycle support activities.
  • Manage ECOs (Engineering Change Orders) and documentation updates.
  • Support field issues and root cause analysis (8D, FMEA).

Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field.
  • 3+ years of experience in mechanical product engineering within electronics manufacturing (experience level can be adjusted).
  • Strong experience with CAD tools (SolidWorks, Creo, NX, or similar).
  • Knowledge of manufacturing processes: injection molding, sheet metal, die casting, machining.
  • Experience supporting products in mass production environments.
  • Understanding of DFM/DFA principles.
  • Ability to work effectively in cross-functional and global teams.

Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience in high-tech electronics, networking equipment, servers, IoT, or consumer electronics.
  • Knowledge of thermal management for electronic systems.
  • Experience working with contract manufacturers (EMS/ODM).
  • Familiarity with reliability testing standards (IEC, JEDEC, etc.).
  • Hands-on experience with prototype builds and factory support.
  • Experience with PLM systems.
