JOB FUNCTION:        
Design, integrate, and sustain automated production systems including PLCs, HMIs, robotics, and SCADA/MES interfaces.
Own the setup, validation, and performance of automation logic, recipes, alarms, and data connections to ensure safe, efficient, and reliable manufacturing operations.


RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Develop, modify, and maintain PLC, HMI, and SCADA programs for process control, quality, and safety.
  • Integrate and configure robots, sensors, drives, and vision systems with existing automation platforms.
  • Manage and validate machine/line recipes and product changeovers to ensure repeatable, error-free transitions.
  • Design and maintain alarm and event structures, including escalation logic and recovery sequences.
  • Support commissioning, FAT/SAT, and startup activities for new equipment and control upgrades.
  • Provide Tier 2 controls support to Production and Maintenance teams; troubleshoot PLC and HMI issues.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to improve throughput, OEE, and process stability.
  • Define and document automation standards, wiring diagrams, and I/O lists.
  • Establish and maintain version control, backups, and disaster recovery procedures.
  • Partner with Maintenance to define preventive maintenance plans for control systems and components.
  • Lead or support continuous improvement projects focused on downtime reduction and automation reliability.
  • Train technicians and operators on proper use of HMIs, alarms, and recovery methods.
  • Communicate project and system status updates to management and stakeholders.

QUALIFICATIONS:

Education:
 
  • Bachelor's degree in electrical engineering, mechanical engineering, or industrial
            engineering, or related field, or relevant business/technical experience.


Experience:
 
  • 3+ years in automated manufacturing, controls engineering, or robotics integration (assembly or process environment preferred).
Skills:
  • Strong mechanical/electrical troubleshooting; safe LOTO practices.
  • Experience with Ignition, FactoryTalk, or Kepware platforms.
  • Working knowledge of industrial communication protocols (Ethernet/IP, Modbus, OPC UA).
  • Ability to read and interpret electrical schematics, I/O lists, and mechanical drawings.
  • Effective at troubleshooting complex electrical, control, and network issues.
  • Solid documentation, organization, and communication skills.
  • Proven collaboration with Production, Quality, and Maintenance departments.
