JOB FUNCTION
Printed Circuit Assembly (PCBA) Manufacturing Engineer Manager oversees all aspects of PCBA manufacturing, from process development and implementation to team leadership and performance management. This role ensures efficient and high-quality production, focusing on safety, quality, delivery, and cost. The manager also plays a key role in New Product Introduction (NPI), optimizes equipment and materials, and leads continuous improvement efforts.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
Printed Circuit Assembly (PCBA) Manufacturing Engineer Manager oversees all aspects of PCBA manufacturing, from process development and implementation to team leadership and performance management. This role ensures efficient and high-quality production, focusing on safety, quality, delivery, and cost. The manager also plays a key role in New Product Introduction (NPI), optimizes equipment and materials, and leads continuous improvement efforts.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Develop, document, and implement manufacturing processes for PCBAs, including tooling, work instructions, and quality control procedures.
- Lead, mentor, and develop a team of manufacturing engineers, specialists, and potentially other personnel, ensuring their skills and knowledge are aligned with the company's goals.
- Track and analyze key metrics related to quality, delivery, cost, and safety, taking corrective action as needed.
- Ensure a strong safety culture and adherence to all relevant regulations and standards.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to support the introduction of new products into manufacturing, including design, production, and quality.
- Identify and implement process improvements, including Lean Manufacturing principles, to enhance efficiency and reduce costs.
- Act as a technical expert, providing guidance and support to the team on manufacturing techniques and test methods.
- Calculate labor, material, and other production costs, contributing to the company's financial goals.
Qualifications
Education:- Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field.
- A master’s degree or certifications in Lean, Six Sigma, or IPC standards is a plus.
- 7+ years of experience in PCBA manufacturing or related field, with at least 3 years in a leadership or managerial role.
- Proven experience with SMT processes, equipment (e.g., pick-and-place, reflow ovens), and quality inspection tools (AOI, ICT, X-ray).
- Strong background in NPI, process engineering, and continuous improvement in a high-mix, low- to medium-volume production environment.
- Deep understanding of PCBA manufacturing techniques, DFM (Design for Manufacturability), and failure analysis.
- Proficiency in manufacturing software (MES/ERP systems), CAD/CAM tools, and process control systems.
- Strong leadership, communication, and project management skills.
- Ability to lead cross-functional teams and collaborate effectively across departments.
- Data-driven mindset with strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Familiarity with industry standards like IPC-A-610, J-STD-001, and ISO requirements.
