Primary Function:

  • Support new and existing business quote activities.
  • Prepare and manage quotation packages for Account Managers (AM) and Program Managers (PM).
  • Develop and deliver server hardware solutions from early-stage design through to production.
  • Ensure the coordination of cross-functional teams, working toward the successful delivery of server products and project timelines.

Purpose of the Position: The Electrical & Project Engineer is responsible for collaborating with customers to define server/storage electrical specifications and designs, alongside Program Managers, Mechanical Engineers, and other functional teams. The engineer will work throughout the full product lifecycle — from development to production — to ensure that server products meet customer requirements and are delivered on time. The role requires strong teamwork, technical expertise, and project management skills.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Technical Development & Engineering:
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams (Electrical Engineering, BIOS, BMC, Signal Integrity, etc.) to develop and deliver successful server products.
  • Manage the design and specification of server hardware components, including signal integrity, transmission lines, and multi-phase VRMs for high-speed signals (USB/SATA/SAS/QPI, DDR4/DDR3).
  • Work with CAD tools (Cadence OrCAD/HDL, Allegro) for schematic capture, PCB layout checks, BOM generation, and system-level debugging.
  • Perform electrical design tasks, including developing server hardware that meets customer specifications and quality standards.
  • Participate in troubleshooting and resolving customer-reported system issues, ensuring product reliability.
  • Project & Business Management:
  • Provide assessments and initial reviews of Request for Quotation (RFQ) packages and preliminary Bill of Materials (BOM) preparation.
  • Generate and manage cost sheets, quotations, and cost analysis for manufacturing processes, ensuring the final cost estimate is accurate.
  • Coordinate with internal teams and external vendors to ensure timely delivery of RFQ packages and project milestones.
  • Facilitate communication between stakeholders (internal and external) to ensure on-time deliverables and resolution of technical and business challenges.
  • Manage the overall New Product Introduction (NPI) process, including technical and business aspects.
  • Ensure that the production layout and manufacturing cycle time align with project requirements to optimize efficiency.
  • Project Execution & Coordination:
  • Support and drive key project milestones from conceptual design to production, collaborating closely with Program Managers (PM) and other teams.
  • Utilize strong problem-solving and troubleshooting skills to evaluate the long-term implications of engineering solutions, considering factors like thermal and electrical stress on component life.
  • Lead the technical aspects of project documentation, preparing detailed specifications, drawings, and other deliverables.
  • Monitor project timelines, ensuring that all deliverables meet the scheduled deadlines and budget constraints.

Education and Work Experience:

  • Required Qualifications:
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or a related field.
  • 2+ years of experience in hardware design, server engineering, or project management.
  • Proficiency in PCB CAD tools, particularly Cadence OrCAD/HDL and Allegro, with hands-on experience in fine-pitch soldering and prototype assembly.
  • Strong understanding of server hardware architecture, including Intel server motherboards and x86 architecture.
  • Knowledge of EMI mitigation methods, signal integrity, and design for manufacture.

Desirable Skills:

  • Familiarity with high-speed signal protocols such as USB, SATA, QPI, and DDR.
  • Experience in managing or participating in cross-functional projects, including customer interaction and internal team coordination.
  • Strong grasp of electrical testing equipment, PCB manufacturing processes, and EMC (Electromagnetic Compatibility) standards.

Additional Qualifications:

  • Strong verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively across teams and present technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders.
  • Ability to handle multiple tasks and competing priorities in a fast-paced environment.
  • A willingness to travel (up to 15%) to meet with customers, vendors, or factories as required, including international travel.
  • A background check may be required to prove engineering certification.
