We are currently seeking a skilled Engineering Supervisor to join our San Jose team. This role is crucial to ensuring the performance, reliability and continuous improvement of our SMT (Surface Mount Technology) production lines in a dynamic, high-mix electronics manufacturing environment.
 
What you’ll be doing 

Equipment Maintenance & Operations
  • Lead daily maintenance activities and regular inspections (PMIs) of SMT and other production equipment.
  • Troubleshoot equipment issues promptly to reduce downtime.
  • Ensure all maintenance work and repairs are completed correctly.
  • Manage the spare parts inventory and ensure parts are available when needed.
  • Coordinate with vendors for equipment servicing, installation, and upgrades.
  • Assist with planning and installing new machines and equipment.
Production Management
  • Oversee the electronics production area, including SMT, reflow, wave soldering, manual insertion, dispensing, and rework.
  • Set up and manage production equipment and workstations.
  • Monitor production quality, timelines, and output.
  • Ensure production meets required cycle times and efficiency targets.
  • Identify and resolve equipment and process issues on the production floor.
Team Leadership
  • Supervise and support technicians, operators, and other staff.
  • Hire and train new team members.
  • Conduct regular performance reviews and identify training needs.
  • Build a strong, motivated team by providing feedback and resolving personnel issues.
  • Foster a safe, productive, and positive work environment.
Process & Quality Improvement
  • Collaborate with QE and PE teams to perform root cause analysis and address recurring issues.
  • Ensure all products meet established quality standards.
Cost & Safety Management
  • Manage the departmental budget and work to reduce waste.
  • Monitor and control spare parts and inventory costs.
  • Enforce workplace safety and EHS policies and procedures.

Skills & Qualifications
  • Strong knowledge of SMT and electronic manufacturing equipment.
  • Experience in maintenance management and production leadership.
  • Solid problem-solving and team management abilities.
  • Hands-on approach with a focus on quality and efficiency.
  • Familiarity with Lean Manufacturing and workplace safety practices.

What we’re looking for 
  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Electronics, or a related technical field preferred
  • Minimum 3 years of supervisory experience in SMT or electronics manufacturing maintenance
  • In-depth knowledge of SMT process flow and equipment maintenance best practices
  • Demonstrated leadership, troubleshooting and communication skills
  • Experience using CMMS software and project planning tools is a plus
  • Must be authorized to work in the U.S. and reside locally in the job’s geographic area
  • Willingness to work flexible shifts and weekends as needed
  • Hands-on experience with SMT platforms such as ASM, Siemens, Fuji, Panasonic, DEK, Heller, or Koh Young
  • Ability to read and interpret electrical schematics, including high-voltage systems (up to 480V), is a plus
