Summary
We are seeking an experienced SMT AOI / SPI / X-Ray Process Engineer to support and improve automated inspection processes within a high-mix, high-complexity electronics manufacturing environment. The successful candidate will be responsible for developing, debugging, optimizing, and sustaining SPI, AOI, and 2D/3D X-Ray inspection programs to ensure world-class quality and manufacturing performance.

Our products include highly complex PCB assemblies with 14,000+ component placements, double-sided SMT, fine-pitch BGAs, micro-BGAs, QFNs, CSPs, and other advanced packaging technologies.
Key Responsibilities
  • Create, validate, optimize, and maintain SPI, AOI, and 2D/3D X-Ray inspection programs.
  • Reduce false calls while improving defect detection and inspection coverage.
  • Support NPI launches, production builds, and continuous process improvement initiatives.
  • Analyze inspection data to drive improvements in FPY, yield, DPMO, and process capability.
  • Investigate and resolve SMT defects including
  • Perform root cause analysis and implement corrective actions.
  • Support SMT repair and rework activities and validate repair effectiveness using inspection technologies.
  • Collaborate with Quality, Manufacturing, NPI, and Production teams to improve SMT processes and product quality.
Basic Qualifications
  • 3+ years of hands-on experience developing and maintaining:
    • SPI programs
    • AOI programs
    • X-Ray inspection programs
  • Proven experience creating, debugging, and optimizing inspection programs in a production environment.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience with TRI (Test Research Inc.) and ViTrox SPI, AOI, and X-Ray equipment.
  • Experience in high-volume, high-mix electronics manufacturing.
  • Knowledge of SPC, MES, Lean Manufacturing, and Six Sigma methodologies
  • IPC-A-610 Certification
  • Working knowledge of IPC workmanship standards and electronics assembly requirements.
Education and Experience
  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Electronics, Manufacturing, or related field.
