Position: Senior Production Planner
Job Grade: G05
Report To: Manager, Programs
Department: Sales
Location: Houston or relocation as required
Main Functions
1) CUSTOMER SUPPORT: The Senior production planner will be responsible for ensuring all day-to-day communication with the Customer takes place in a timely fashion. This includes order status, shipment advice, reschedules, customer reports, etc.
2) PRODUCTION AND SHIPMENT SCHEDULE: The Senior production planner will be responsible for ensuring efficient production capacity utilisation based on the Customer's requested delivery date, order priority, material availability, and production skills. The Senior production planner will also be responsible for the daily and 3-day shipping schedule and execution.
3) CUSTOMER PERFORMANCE: The Senior production planner will be responsible for measuring the performance of the Customer relationship. This will cover the Shipment / Delivery Performance, Detractors, Cancellations, Desadvice Errors, etc., to ensure that the business is in line with the quotation.
Duties and Responsibilities
1) ORDER ADMINISTRATION: The Senior production planner, working with the Customer, will be responsible for the order administration process from Order Receipt through to Order Acceptance, Shipment, and Invoicing.
2) CUSTOMER SATISFACTION: The Senior production planner will be responsible for establishing and maintaining effective lines of communication with the Customer. This must deliver an accurate reporting system that will provide all required management information to the Customer at the frequency and in the format that is acceptable to the Customer. The Senior production planner will be responsible for conducting the weekly Delivery performance with the Customer and for communicating the results to the Internal Team.
3) ACCOUNTS RECEIVABLE: The Senior production planner will be responsible for monitoring EDI messages, as the quality of the Desadvice message has a direct impact on A/R. This is a major cost element within the quoted price.
4) CUSTOMER DOCUMENTS: The Senior production planner will be responsible for the management of customer documents that are required by PCE, such as cancellation requests, pro forma invoices, etc.
5) ORDER BOOK ADMINISTRATION: The Senior production planner will be responsible for the administration of all Backlog, Cancellations, and Reschedules. It will also be required of the Customer as quickly as possible to advise if changes can be accepted and what the impact/implications of such changes would be.
6) SHIPPING: The Senior production planner will be responsible for providing a daily shipping plan and a 3-day outlook based on customer-requested deadlines. The Senior production planner will be responsible for supporting the shipping team with providing the necessary information in a timely manner, training, and development of the system as required.
7) TEAMWORK: The Senior production planner will be responsible for cooperation with other departments that will be required to achieve the operational objectives of the Group. The Senior production planner should be able to assess problem situations, analyse the data, and, with the support of the relevant groups, make the best decision to take the business forward. It will also be required to Liaise closely with the Peer group of Production Planners to resolve any potential conflicts between Customer accounts that may arise. The Senior production planner should develop their existing orgchart in order to align with the business needs.
8) MEASUREMENTS: The Senior production planner will be responsible for the following measurements:
WEEKLY:
• Order book accuracy
• Backlog
• Delivery performance
• Customer complaint closure
MONTHLY:
• Customer-specific metrics
The Senior production planner will be required to measure and report on these Metrics on the prescribed frequency.

Job specification
Qualifications/Experience
- The Senior production planner will have a further education qualification such as a Degree in a relevant Discipline, or an equivalent qualification from a recognized authority.
- The Senior production planner will have at least two years of experience in a Commercial role, preferably within a high-volume, manufacturing environment
