Position Summary
The Quality Assurance Supervisor is responsible for leading and maintaining the Quality Management System (QMS), ensuring compliance with customer, regulatory, and internal requirements. This role drives a preventive quality culture, supports operational excellence, and ensures consistent execution of quality processes across SMT/EMS manufacturing operations. It is responsible of supervise the quality portion for NPI & Change Management, for ensuring end-to-end quality readiness for new product introductions and engineering changes, driving a holistic, system-based approach across design, process development, supply chain, and manufacturing execution.

This role drives a preventive quality culture, supports operational excellence, and ensures consistent execution of quality processes across SMT/EMS manufacturing operations. It is responsible of supervise the quality portion for NPI & Change Management, for ensuring end-to-end quality readiness for new product introductions and engineering changes, driving a holistic, system-based approach across design, process development, supply chain, and manufacturing execution.
Key Responsibilities
1. Quality Systems Management
- Ensure compliance with QMS standards (e.g., ISO 9001, IPC standards, customer-specific requirements)
- Maintain and improve procedures, work instructions, and control plans
- Drive standardization across production lines and processes
- Monitor adherence to defined manufacturing processes (SMT, assembly, test)
- Ensure proper implementation of:
- PFMEA and Control Plans
- ESD controls and handling requirements
- Traceability and serialization systems
- Enforce layered process audits (LPA)
- Lead root cause analysis using structured methodologies (8D, 5 Whys, Fishbone)
- Drive corrective and preventive actions (CAPA)
- Partner with Industrial Engineering and Production to reduce defects:
- Solder defects (bridging, tombstoning, insufficient solder)
- Assembly and test escapes
- Promote a zero-defect mindset across teams
- Track and report key KPIs:
- First Pass Yield (FPY)
- DPPM (Defective Parts Per Million)
- Scrap and rework rates
- Customer complaints and returns
- Analyze trends and trigger improvement actions
- Provide regular reporting to plant leadership
- Supervise and develop Quality Engineers, Technicians, and Inspectors
- Define roles, responsibilities, and performance expectations
- Provide coaching and technical guidance
- Ensure adequate staffing and training coverage
- Act as liaison between customer quality teams and internal operations
- Support customer audits and business reviews
- Ensure timely and effective response to customer complaints (8D reports)
- Collaborate with Supplier Quality on incoming issues impacting production
- Ensure quality readiness for new product launches
- Participate in design and process reviews
- Validate inspection and test strategies (AOI, ICT, FCT)
- Approve first article inspections (FAI) and pilot builds
- Ensure accurate and timely documentation of quality records
- Maintain defect databases and lessons learned
- Support digitalization initiatives (MES, dashboards, traceability systems)
Education
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering (Industrial, Manufacturing, Electronics, or related field) preferred
- 3–7 years of experience in Quality within SMT/EMS or electronics manufacturing
- Prior supervisory or leadership experience preferred (Engineers, Technicians)
- Strong knowledge of:
- SMT processes and electronics manufacturing
- IPC standards (IPC-A-610, J-STD-001)
- Quality tools (8D, PFMEA, SPC, MSA)
- Experience with inspection technologies (AOI, SPI, AXI, ICT, FCT).
- Familiarity with MES and data analysis tools
