Summary
The Facilities Mechanical Engineer is responsible for supporting the operation, maintenance, and improvement of building mechanical systems and infrastructure, with additional involvement in industrial automation and control systems within a manufacturing environment. The role ensures reliable facility performance while also contributing to automation, equipment controls, and production support initiatives.
Key Responsibilities
• Support operation, maintenance, and optimization of building mechanical systems, including HVAC and industrial cooling systems.
• Assemble and disassemble industrial mechanical equipment as needed for installation, maintenance, or upgrades.
• Update and maintain building mechanical drawings and technical documentation.
• Develop and implement a structured building inspection and preventive maintenance system.
• Perform daily maintenance on assigned equipment and monitor stock levels of spare parts and consumables.
• Coordinate with contractors and vendors; request and evaluate quotes for facility related work.
• Provide technical input, specifications, and recommendations to internal stakeholders and external partners.
• Support compliance and continuous improvement activities, including ISO 50001 energy management.
• Design, develop, and support automation systems used in production and facility related processes.
• Develop, modify, and troubleshoot PLC programs (e.g., Siemens, Allen-Bradley, Omron).
• Commission and support automated equipment, control systems, and related infrastructure.
• Maintain technical documentation, including electrical schematics and control system records.
• Participate in continuous improvement initiatives (OEE, Lean Manufacturing, Industry 4.0 concepts).
• Organize and support project reviews, measurements, and technical documentation updates.
• Support cross-functional problem-solving related to facility and automation issues.
• Participate in root cause analysis and corrective action implementation for equipment and system failures.
Basic Qualifications
• Experience with HVAC systems and industrial cooling systems.
• Experience in PLC programming (Siemens, Allen-Bradley, Omron or similar).
• Ability to read, interpret, and update mechanical and electrical drawings.
• Hands-on experience with industrial mechanical equipment assembly/disassembly.
• Strong problem-solving, communication, and coordination skills.
• Experience in industrial automation or controls engineering.
Preferred Qualifications
• Ability to work in a manufacturing or production environment (preferred).
Education and Experience
• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Mechatronics, Electrical Engineering, or related field.
